WHAT’S NEW IN 2015?

Now entering its sixth year, Connect continually evolves to ensure we offer more of what you like and guarantee a fresh experience every time you attend, whether you’re a veteran delegate or a first timer.

This year’s theme is ‘The Change Imperative’
Everything changes and nothing stands still. Whether it’s change you want (new technology and upgrades), change that is forced upon you (legislative change or market shifts) or change that your customers want (better service, better prices) - organisations and IT leaders are always batting with change.

This theme will be explored throughout the day, mixing practical advice with the latest thought leadership content. Attendees also get personal access to subject matter experts, their peers and to respected industry speakers, to learn and share knowledge about real-world experiences.

New for 2015: Introducting the 'Change Forum'

A panel debate featuring senior figures from EE, Openreach, TalkTAlk Business facing off against leading enterprise CIOs including FTSE 100 firms
The 'Change Forum' is a unique, interactive panel debate session tackling the thorny issue of infrastructure change and it's far reaching implications for UK IT leaders.

With significant projects underway to upgrade the UK's network infrastructure, driven by unprecedented demand and growing bandwidth requirements, disruptions and delays are inevitable.

We've put together an expert panel of senior IT practitioners (from Organisations such as Severn Trent Water and the City & Guilds Group) to challenge and debate with key decision makers from large UK network operators to find out:

  • What infrastructure upgrades and investments are coming - hear what change is on the horizon, why they are doing it and when it's happening directly from the likes of Openreach, EE and TalkTalk Business
  • The operators perspective - learn how and why network operators are ensuring their technology is up-to-date and what the benefits it promises you
  • The enterprise perspective - what changes do enterprises really want from the operators? And what steps can be taken to reduce the business impact of outages and delays?

By putting everyone together - telcos, operators, IT leaders - into one room, the Change forum offers an exclusive chance to debate this issue, share perspectives and understand the best way forward.

Attend to have your opinion heard and open a dialogue with the operators to help them understand what they can do to achieve the transformation everyone wants, without the disruption to service that no one needs!

Hear from someone who has experienced change in action: Ian Turfrey, IT Director at City & Guilds
Ian Turfrey is the IT Director for the City & Guilds Group, a global leader in skills development. He specialises in delivering transformational programmes and recently overhauled the company’s outdated IT systems. Through switching to solutions like cloud-hosting and commoditising communications through Azzurri, Ian has achieved a savings of £2mil for City & Guilds.

The improved systems have empowered staff to work flexibly, solve their own problems, and connect to each other more easily – crucial for a company that operates in more than 80 countries. Ian continues to drive innovative IT strategy, all whilst ensuring that the lights are always on.

"My strategic goal was to remove all of our communications systems and servers from our physical sites by the end of 2014. My ICON Communicate solution has enabled me to take a major step forward in delivering on my vision of an unburdened IT team where all IT and telecoms are delivered as a service from external suppliers. The IT department should no longer be the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the organisation. Instead it should be the service provider that uses technology to unburden the business to do bigger and better things. I just want to ensure the business has the best technology solutions in place in order to be as efficient as possible, whilst minimising risk and downtime. By outsourcing all of our telecoms to a single, cloud-based managed service which can be scaled to our needs, ICON Communicate delivers that and lets us focus on the bigger picture.”
